Our magnificent and beautiful India begins the 73rd year of commemorating our Republic Day.

Republic Day is one of India's most widely observed national holidays. It is a day that exemplifies the real ethos of Independent India. Republic Day commemorates India's complete independence from the British Empire. On this day, the Indian Constitution went into effect.

India is rich in diversity. It is a country in where people of many cultures, religions, castes, and languages coexist peacefully. On Republic Day, irrespective of this tremendous diversity, people from all around the country get together to commemorate the day with immense courage and passion.

The Essence of Republic Day

The Constituent Assembly of India enacted the Indian Constitution on November 26, 1949, and it went into force on January 26, 1950. Hence, this auspicious day commemorates the time when independent India's Constituent Assembly approved its own constitution, establishing the country as the world's largest democracy.

The true spirit of India can be sensed on this propitious day through military parades and the glorious flag hoisting ceremony, where the tricolor flag of India represents the sovereignty and spirit of a democratic nation. The whole nation is colored in the national tricolor or “Tiranga”.

Every true Indian feels the significance of the Tiranga deep in the heart. The saffron (Kesaria) hue of the flag indicates renunciation, the white color in the center represents the road of truth that guides the nation's conduct, and the green color represents India's relationship with soil, on which every life depends. In addition, the Ashok Chakra in the center of white represents the wheel of Dharma, Truth (Satya).

On Republic Day, the President of India, together with members of the Defense Services and various police divisions, conduct the noble flag hoisting ceremony at Red Fort and lay a wreath of honor in remembrance of the martyrs at Amar Jawan Jyoti. On this momentous occasion, the President of India also bestows national bravery and gallantry medals on Jawans who fought for the country in the front lines. In addition to that, the highest types of civilian honors, such as the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award, and many such other honors are bestowed upon the worthy individuals.

On Republic Day, bikers doing pyramids, demonstrating the Indian Army's patience, determination, speed, and consistency, lifts the mood of this important event. The Indian Army's aircraft from the army and air force divisions perform spectacular aerobatic displays.

Apart from the official festivities, Republic Day inspires everyone to be proud of Indian culture, languages, social standards, traditions, customs, faiths, and uniqueness. On this momentous day, patriotic tunes resound throughout the country, and each youngster flutters a miniature national flag to mark the event. To make the day unforgettable, social activities are held in every nook and cranny of the country. Children from different schools throughout the country perform cultural programs demonstrating India's unity in diversity and sovereignty. This day helps to remind us of the importance of all of our freedom fighters and warriors, as well as their sacrifices, devotion and loyalty to the country.

Let’s Join Hands Together

The national holiday is rapidly approaching, and every Indian citizen is looking forward to it.

So, as a country, let us realize our genuine potentials, skills, and capacities – we can become a democratic republic that will emerge as a superpower when we hold each other’s hands in togetherness. So, let us come together to dedicate our deepest respect and devotion to them on this day. It is time for all of us to get together and rid our country of all the ills that afflict it.

Let us disseminate the message that the tricolor represents. Let us bring peace, humanity, and prosperity across the world. The commemoration of the 73rd Republic Day is on our thoughts. May the strength in our bodies and the purity in our blood flow, and may we all rise and pay tribute to our motherland India on Republic Day. May purity and tranquilly reside within each citizen of our nation, and may we continue to turn the wheel of development day after day. May our Indian Flag's glorious colors float high with wealth and patriotism.

Happy Republic Day!
