Start Each Day with a Grateful Heart

In Albert Einstein’s words – “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” 

Life, itself is a miracle we seek everywhere. In every moment, life keeps unfolding itself as long as we choose to notice and appreciate. The practice of staying grateful allows us to recognize the blessings and miracles as well as the challenges of life.

But are you aware of all those miracles that happen to us every day? Are you even conscious of all the treasures life has gifted us? 

Even though there is nothing in the Universe that belongs to us, we can learn to accept the blessings of life gratefully and share them with those around us to experience the beautiful phenomenon of gratitude.

Appreciate the Wonders!

Each moment we live and experience, everything that exists around us works together to keep us alive. All we have to do is to peel our eyes and clear our vision to look around and identify all that is making our life “happen”. 

Remember the kaleidoscope we used to play with once? Life is just like that kaleidoscope. Our lives are a combination of colourful moments of excitement – ecstatic or miserable.  

Whatever happens around us is neutral according to the order of the Universe, but it is our human nature to filter them through our different perceptions and senses to label them as either good or bad. Our perceptions depend on the way we see through the kaleidoscope of life. 

Gratitude is not an Attitude: 

Gratitude is not an attitude that can be cultivated within rather it is an emotion we can experience whenever we feel overwhelmed by a situation or by someone. 

Putting simply, gratitude is being aware of everything that we have and being able to appreciate everything that money can never buy. Starting from the bright sunny morning, the warmth of love, the company of family and friends to the clothes we wear, the food we eat, and the breath we take – there is everything in life to be grateful for. 

Our first step towards realizing our dreams and goals should begin with gratitude. It is not just the positive things in our lives that we can be grateful for, but thanks must also go to the challenging ones. Because the challenges are the real treasures of life that teach us endurance. 

Once we choose to focus on what we have and what we are grateful for, we will be able to see more. Because we always find what we are looking for and that is the central truth.

Concisely: 

However, the act of gratitude allows us to reconnect directly with our hearts, the true essence of who we are. No matter what is going on in your life, every day brings something to celebrate. To conclude with Thornton Wilder’s words “We are most alive when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” It is a gift to experience and appreciate the wonders of awe, pleasure, wonder, and ecstasy again and again as we journey through life.
